Regenerative therapies, in the service of your recovery.
To preserve your joints and tendons for as long as possible.
In Nyon, ITU Clinic brings together sports physiotherapy and regenerative medicine to act on pain, support tissue recovery and restore function. A structured, minimally invasive approach, focused on a return to performance and functional longevity.
Our care rests on a method developed at the clinic by Jon Iturralde and applied by a trained team. Two complementary frameworks form its backbone.
The clinical framework
The structure that links assessment, tissue activation and rehabilitation. A consistent thread from the first assessment to the return to activity, designed for precision and reproducibility.
The orthobiologic protocol
Ultrasound-guided percutaneous laser, combined where indicated with an ultrasound-guided PRP injection, prepared with latest-generation systems and performed by the clinic's radiologist, followed by structured rehabilitation.
Assessment
Clinical and ultrasound assessment to locate the lesion and define a precise plan.
Activation
Ultrasound-guided percutaneous laser sessions.
Orthobiologics
Ultrasound-guided PRP injection, prepared with a latest-generation system and performed by Dr Donalisio, FMH radiologist.
Rehabilitation
Progressive rehabilitation and measured follow-up, to consolidate recovery.
Each indication is assessed individually. Medical procedures (injections and orthobiologics) are performed under the responsibility of Dr Massimo Donalisio, FMH radiologist specialised in interventional radiology.
Dr Massimo Donalisio
FMH radiologist, specialised in interventional radiology. He brings to the protocol his expertise in image-guided medical procedures and performs its medical acts under his own responsibility.
Jon Iturralde
Sports physiotherapist (ASPS), clinical director. Designer of the CIRA® and LIRA-Ortho® frameworks.
Who is LIRA-Ortho® for?
For chronic tendinopathies, soft-tissue injuries, persistent joint pain, early osteoarthritis and sports overuse injuries. Each indication is assessed individually at the initial assessment.
Who performs the treatment?
Assessment and rehabilitation are provided by the ITU Clinic physiotherapy team. Medical procedures (PRP injections) are performed by Dr Massimo Donalisio, FMH radiologist.
Is the procedure painful?
It is a minimally invasive procedure, performed under ultrasound control for precise placement. It is generally well tolerated; comfort measures are explained before treatment.
When can results be seen?
Progress is monitored from the first sessions. Recovery then continues gradually; the protocol's structured follow-up makes it possible to measure progress over the weeks and adjust rehabilitation. Results vary with the indication and each individual situation.
Are there contraindications?
Contraindications are assessed at the initial assessment, before any treatment. Some situations respond less favourably, autoimmune diseases in particular, and are discussed case by case to determine whether the protocol is indicated.
Is it covered by insurance?
The medical procedure, performed by Dr Massimo Donalisio (FMH physician), is billed separately; coverage depends on your insurance. Details are on the Fees and insurance page. The regenerative part of the protocol is a private service; a detailed written quote is provided before any treatment.
Each protocol is set out in a personalised written quote after the initial assessment, according to the indication and the number of sessions. Fees and coverage conditions are detailed on the Fees and insurance.
