EMTT®, magnetotransduction in the service of rehabilitation.
EMTT® (Extracorporeal Magnetotransduction Therapy) uses a high-frequency pulsed magnetic field, from 100 to 300 kHz, contact-free and without any invasive procedure. Developed by STORZ MEDICAL, it complements focused shockwave therapy and rehabilitation at the clinic.
- Persistent musculoskeletal pain.
- Muscle contractures and spasms.
- Tendinopathies, alongside focused shockwave therapy.
- Rehabilitation after injury, to support the return of mobility.
An assessment always precedes treatment. It clarifies the indication, checks contraindications, chooses the parameters and sets the number of sessions, in coordination with exercise and the clinic's other care.
A magnetic field at a different frequency.
High frequency
The STORZ MEDICAL MAGNETOLITH® oscillates between 100 and 300 kHz, well beyond conventional magnetotherapy devices, which allows it to reach deeper tissues.
Contact-free
The applicator is placed on the area to be treated, through clothing if needed. The session involves no invasive procedure.
With shockwave therapy
STORZ MEDICAL designed EMTT® to complement shockwave therapy. At the clinic, the two technologies can be combined within the same programme.
- UltrasoundLatest-generation high-resolution ultrasound, to see the tendon, muscle or joint and to guide the procedure.
- Infrared thermographyAn image of surface heat, to identify asymmetries and follow how they change over the course of treatment.
- Advanced testingStrength, mobility, motor control and sporting technique, measured and compared at each reassessment.
- Review of your scansMRI, X-rays and reports, with the support of the FMH radiologist where useful.
Assess, treat, measure.
- 01Thorough assessment and study of your case
- 02Series of EMTT® sessions according to the selected protocol
- 03Exercise programme alongside
- 04Measured reassessment of pain and function
Our technologies
Ultrasound-guided focused shockwave therapy
Focused, not radial, shockwaves concentrated at depth on the area identified by ultrasound. STORZ MEDICAL device, designed and made in Switzerland. Available from December 2026.
Discover →MBST® therapeutic magnetic resonance
Painless, contact-free sessions delivered as a series. Used clinically for osteoarthritis, cartilage, tendons and certain nerve protocols.
Discover →High-intensity laser
Applied transcutaneously or percutaneously under ultrasound guidance, within a rehabilitation programme.
Discover →LIRA-Ortho® protocol
Ultrasound-guided percutaneous laser and a PRP injection performed by the radiologist, followed by measured rehabilitation.
Discover →Rehabilitation and reconditioning
Dosed exercise, progressive loading and measured criteria for the return to activity.
Discover →The choice of techniques follows from the assessment. Not all of them suit everyone; that is precisely what the assessment establishes.
Within a programme
EMTT® is not a stand-alone treatment: it is part of a programme set after assessment, with exercise and, where appropriate, focused shockwave therapy or other technologies at the clinic. MAGNETOLITH® is a trademark of STORZ MEDICAL AG.
Autonomy and network
Our physiotherapists lead your care autonomously, in coordination with the doctors and specialists who follow you. Where useful, and with your consent, we liaise with your doctor or specialists. At the clinic, Dr Massimo Donalisio, FMH radiologist specialised in interventional radiology, provides imaging review, second opinions and regenerative medicine procedures.
Are the sessions painful?
No. The session involves no invasive contact; the intensity is set according to your tolerance.
How many sessions should I expect?
EMTT® is delivered as a series. The number of sessions depends on the indication; the written plan provided after the assessment specifies it.
Are there contraindications?
Yes, in particular certain electronic implants such as a pacemaker, and pregnancy. They are checked at the assessment, before any session.
Is EMTT® reimbursed?
This is a private service; supplementary insurance may contribute depending on your policy. See the Fees and insurance page.
