Shoulder pain: regaining movement and strength.
Swimming, serving, hitting a golf ball, carrying a child: the shoulder is constantly at work. When it hurts, we first look at how it functions: range of motion, strength, control of the shoulder blade, tolerance to load. Then we build a gradual return to movement.
- Pain when raising the arm, at night or when sleeping on your side.
- Loss of strength when serving, throwing or swimming.
- A shoulder that has not been the same since a fall or an injury.
The assessment starts from function: the movements that reproduce the pain, the tests that change it, strength, mobility, shoulder blade control and tolerance to sporting movements. Dynamic ultrasound completes the picture when useful, and we identify what needs medical advice.
- UltrasoundLatest-generation high-resolution ultrasound, to see the tendon, muscle or joint and to guide the procedure.
- Infrared thermographyAn image of surface heat, to identify asymmetries and follow how they change over the course of treatment.
- Advanced testingStrength, mobility, motor control and sporting technique, measured and compared at each reassessment.
- Review of your scansMRI, X-rays and reports, with the support of the FMH radiologist where useful.

Our technologies
In-clinic ultrasound
Latest-generation high-resolution ultrasound, to see the tissue, guide the procedure and follow its progress.
Discover →Ultrasound-guided percutaneous electrolysis (EPI®)
A low-intensity galvanic current, delivered through a fine needle guided by ultrasound, into the heart of the damaged tendon tissue.
Discover →Ultrasound-guided focused shockwave therapy
Focused, not radial, shockwaves concentrated at depth on the area identified by ultrasound. STORZ MEDICAL device, designed and made in Switzerland. Available from December 2026.
Discover →LIRA® percutaneous laser
Ultrasound-guided percutaneous photobiomodulation: light is delivered as close as possible to the tissue being treated.
Discover →Rehabilitation and reconditioning
Dosed exercise, progressive loading and measured criteria for the return to activity.
Discover →The choice of techniques follows from the assessment. Not all of them suit everyone; that is precisely what the assessment establishes.
Autonomy and network
Our physiotherapists lead your care autonomously, in coordination with the doctors and specialists who follow you. Where useful, and with your consent, we liaise with your doctor or specialists. At the clinic, Dr Massimo Donalisio, FMH radiologist specialised in interventional radiology, provides imaging review, second opinions and regenerative medicine procedures.
Can a calcified shoulder be treated?
Focused shockwave therapy is among the options studied for calcific tendinopathy. The assessment will show whether it is indicated in your case.
How long does recovery take?
It depends on the injury and your goal. The written plan sets out the stages and reassessments.
Are these treatments reimbursed?
Physiotherapy on prescription is. Regenerative technologies are private services; see the Fees and insurance page.
