Sports injuries

Returning to sport at the right time, on measured criteria.

A muscle tear or a sprain can be treated; a recurrence costs a season. We follow the injury on ultrasound and set objective criteria before each stage of the return to play.

Your situation
  • Sharp pain during exercise, a strain, a tearing sensation.
  • An ankle or knee sprain that remains unstable.
  • The pressure of a match, a competition or a staff waiting for a date.
The assessment

We examine the injury, measure it on ultrasound and follow it over time. When you are followed by a club, we work with the medical and coaching staff on a shared plan.

Assessment tools
  1. UltrasoundLatest-generation high-resolution ultrasound, to see the tendon, muscle or joint and to guide the procedure.
  2. Infrared thermographyAn image of surface heat, to identify asymmetries and follow how they change over the course of treatment.
  3. Advanced testingStrength, mobility, motor control and sporting technique, measured and compared at each reassessment.
  4. Review of your scansMRI, X-rays and reports, with the support of the FMH radiologist where useful.
The pathway

Technologies and care

Our technologies

The choice of techniques follows from the assessment. Not all of them suit everyone; that is precisely what the assessment establishes.

Clubs and federations

ITU Clinic supports players and competitive athletes, in liaison with their medical staff. Contact us to arrange follow-up.

Autonomy and network

Our physiotherapists lead your care autonomously, in coordination with the doctors and specialists who follow you. Where useful, and with your consent, we liaise with your doctor or specialists. At the clinic, Dr Massimo Donalisio, FMH radiologist specialised in interventional radiology, provides imaging review, second opinions and regenerative medicine procedures.

Frequently asked questions
When can I return to training?

The return follows stages defined by tests of strength, speed and sporting movement, not a date set in advance.

Do you work with my club?

Yes, with your consent: a report to the doctor and the staff, and a shared return-to-play plan.

Do I need a prescription?

For physiotherapy reimbursed by accident or basic insurance, yes. A private assessment can also be booked directly.
