A tendon that does not heal calls for a precise look.
Achilles tendon, patellar tendon, shoulder, tennis or golfer's elbow: when pain has lasted for months, rest alone is rarely enough. We look at the tendon on ultrasound and build a targeted treatment.
- Tendon pain in the morning or at the start of exercise, which returns as soon as you resume.
- Weeks of rest, anti-inflammatories or sessions without lasting results.
- A season, a race or a sporting goal drawing closer.
We examine the tendon, the chain around it and the way you load it in training. High-resolution ultrasound lets us observe how the tendon behaves, at rest and in motion, and guide the therapeutic procedure precisely.
- UltrasoundLatest-generation high-resolution ultrasound, to see the tendon, muscle or joint and to guide the procedure.
- Infrared thermographyAn image of surface heat, to identify asymmetries and follow how they change over the course of treatment.
- Advanced testingStrength, mobility, motor control and sporting technique, measured and compared at each reassessment.
- Review of your scansMRI, X-rays and reports, with the support of the FMH radiologist where useful.
Assess, treat, measure.
- 01Clinical and ultrasound assessment of the tendon
- 02Targeted, image-guided treatment
- 03Progressive loading programme
- 04Measured return-to-sport criteria
Our technologies
Ultrasound-guided percutaneous electrolysis (EPI®)
A low-intensity galvanic current, delivered through a fine needle guided by ultrasound, into the heart of the damaged tendon tissue.
Discover →Ultrasound-guided focused shockwave therapy
Focused, not radial, shockwaves concentrated at depth on the area identified by ultrasound. STORZ MEDICAL device, designed and made in Switzerland. Available from December 2026.
Discover →LIRA® percutaneous laser
Ultrasound-guided percutaneous photobiomodulation: light is delivered as close as possible to the tissue being treated.
Discover →LIRA-Ortho® protocol
Ultrasound-guided percutaneous laser and a PRP injection performed by the radiologist, followed by measured rehabilitation.
Discover →Rehabilitation and reconditioning
Dosed exercise, progressive loading and measured criteria for the return to activity.
Discover →The choice of techniques follows from the assessment. Not all of them suit everyone; that is precisely what the assessment establishes.
Since 2017
Jon Iturralde has practised ultrasound-guided percutaneous electrolysis since 2017, among the first in French-speaking Switzerland. Every procedure is performed under ultrasound, as close as possible to the injured area.
Autonomy and network
Our physiotherapists lead your care autonomously, in coordination with the doctors and specialists who follow you. Where useful, and with your consent, we liaise with your doctor or specialists. At the clinic, Dr Massimo Donalisio, FMH radiologist specialised in interventional radiology, provides imaging review, second opinions and regenerative medicine procedures.
Is percutaneous electrolysis painful?
The procedure is brief and localised. The sensation is described as intense but bearable; it fades quickly after the session.
Can I keep training?
Most often yes, with adapted loading. The programme specifies what you can do at each stage.
How does this differ from radial shockwaves?
Focused shockwaves concentrate energy at depth on a precise area identified by ultrasound. At the clinic, we use only ultrasound-guided focused shockwaves.
Are these treatments reimbursed?
Physiotherapy on prescription is. Electrolysis, shockwave and laser are private services; see the Fees and insurance page.
